Flowers for Interiors

When finishing any room for my clients I love to put fresh flowers anywhere I possibly can – it instantly lifts a room with the softness of foliage and the colour of petals. Now, unless you are Elton John and have regular deliveries of fresh flowers every day, you are probably more like me – too busy to keep on top of changing the water and reviving old arrangements. More often than not I suddenly realise that a week has gone by and I now have a rather depressing vase of dead flowers with smelly water.

I have been on the hunt for great faux flowers to combat this, which isn’t easy as so many look a little too fake or can cheapen a room. Well now my search is over with huge thanks to one of my favourite designers, Abigail Ahern. Not only has she managed to put together an amazing collection of contemporary flowers and foliage, but I think they are at great prices too, especially when you consider how much flowers would cost you over the period of a year.

Now these aren’t just twee flowers, she has some fabulous plants and foliage to add something extra to your home. I particularly like the giant cacti and grasses, which are perfect for me as I cannot keep a single house plant alive!

The cactus plants starts at £57.50 for a medium size and the most expensive Fern plant costing £168.50, with her flowers stems each costing from £4.25.

I would take some tips from Abigail and group many different flowers and plants together in a variety of containers and vases to create and interesting focal point in your room. This is an amazing way to add more texture to your home if you have gone a bit grey mad! Or if you struggle with anything floral they sell hand-tied faux bouquets ready to put straight in a vase and also run flower workshops.
